Free Trade Australia
The Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA)
The Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA)
was signed on July 5, 2004 and came into effect on January 1st, 2005. The main aim of the TAFTA is to encourage bilateral trade between Thailand and Australia through the gradual elimination of tariffs. After the initial implementation of the TAFTA, Australia immediately removed the tariffs on
over 83% during the first year alone.
Key sectors, such as gems and jewelry, have led the way in this brisk expansion of trade as Australian importers have been quick to take advantage of the TAFTA and the tariff-free imports it offers.
However, while Tariff-Free imports have obvious appeal, Australian Traders should still exercise caution. Not all Thai products or companies qualify automatically for the lifting of tariffs under the terms of the TAFTA.
For an Australian importer of wholesale gems and jewelry to benefit from the TAFTA, they should only deal with reputable wholesale gem and jewelry traders in Thailand. The easiest and safest way to do this is by checking whether Thai gem and jewelry wholesalers are registered with the department of Foreign Trade and approved members of the TAFTA. Only Thai companies that have applied for and received a TAFTA Certificate of Origin
for gems and jewelry are able to offer the financial advantages of tariff-free trade. Royi Sal is proud to be a fully-participating member of the TAFTA with a Certificate of Origin on all our jewelry . As such, we can offer significant financial advantages to Australian wholesale importers of gold jewelry, silver jewelry, crystal jewelry, body jewelry and fashion jewelry from Thailand.
Royi Sal has always offered the finest quality jewelry at surprisingly affordable prices, but thanks to the TAFTA and our Certificate of Origin, we are now tariff free for Australian importers.
