The Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA) is a free trade agreement between Japan and Thailand that was signed on April 3rd, 2007.
The primary objective of the JTEPA is to promote bilateral trade
between Japan and Thailand. This is to be achieved through the elimination of tariffs on a wide variety of products, ranging from tropical fruits to gems and jewelry.
After the initial implementation of the JTEPA in 2007, some tariffs were eliminated immediately, while others are due be phased out over the following 10 years.
Japanese importers of wholesale gems and jewelry from Thailand are already benefiting from the JTEPA. The elimination of tariffs led to savings of 2.25% of the entire gems and jewelry sector export value during the first five months of trading after the JTEPA went into effect in November 2007.
For a Japanese importer of wholesale gems and jewelry to take full advantage of the JTEPA, it is necessary for them to deal only with reputable wholesale gem and jewelry traders in Thailand. Japanese importers should check whether Thai gem and jewelry wholesalers are registered with the Department of Foreign Trade as part of the JTEPA. Only companies that have applied for and received a JTEPA Business Operations Certificate are eligible for the financial advantages of tariff-free trade.
Royi Sal is proud to be a fully-participating member of the JTEPA. As such, we can offer significant financial advantages to Japanese wholesale importers of gold jewelry, silver jewelry, crystal jewelry, body jewelry and fashion jewelry from Thailand.
Royi Sal has always offered the finest quality jewelry at surprisingly affordable prices, but thanks to the JTEPA, we are now tariff free for Japanese importers.
